Beyond the Saddle

Beyond the Saddle focuses on unmounted, equine-assisted activities to help support growth in independence, self-regulation, and life skills. 

Sessions can include nature walks, horsemanship skills such as grooming, and kitchen/cooking skills.

About Beyond the Saddle

Beyond the Saddle is designed to teach participants life skills including and beyond horsemanship. Designed for young adults and older, below are some examples of what you could learn:

  1. Life Skills: Food preparation in the kitchen, barn chores, cleaning tack, barn laundry, caring for plants.
  2. Leisure Activities: Nature walk, music, painting, drawing, board games, card games, gardening.
  3. Equine Partnership: Grooming and caring for horses, leading horses in the arena, watching demonstrations and learning of basic horsemanship such as designing and leading through courses, learning about horse colours, breeds, ages, and healthcare.

Lesson day/time: Fridays, 9am to 11am

  • 2 hour lesson weekly
  • 13 lessons

Session breaks (No lessons):
October 17th (Horse Vacation Week)

Fees: $650

Fees due: Monday August 8th

Lesson format:

  • 2 hour lesson weekly
  • 10 lessons

Session breaks (No lessons):
February 13th (Horse Vacation Week)

Fees: $550

Fees due: Friday, December 5th

Lesson format:

  • 2 hour lesson
  • 12 lessons

Session breaks (No lessons):
May 15th (Horse Vacation Week)

Fees:  $550

Fees due: Monday, February 23rd
